Commission: Celebrating 100 Years of Soap Making (1888 – 1988) Client: Lever Brothers Location: Port Sunlight, Merseyside, UK ‘Lever Brothers celebrated a Century of soap production at their Port Sunlight, Merseyside with a contemporary stained glass window. As part of the centenary celebrations, a new soap making plant was officially opened by Her Majesty the Queen and Prince Philip. They were two of the first admirers to view the new stained glass window and meet the artist along their tour’. Glass Age -1988 The stained glass window measures 2 metres x 1.50 metres and illustrates the various brand names set against a kaleidoscope of colours which cascade in the shape of an ‘S’. The company’s legendary flagship ‘Sunlight Soap’ dominates the centre of the design – this is a detailed reproduction taken from the original Victorian soap packaging.
